Devisor is in the process of developing it's own Anchor Winch. The concept is based on a drum winch. Currently the prototype is being tested.
A production version is expected to be released to the New Zealand market in October 2009.
The yet to be named winch is expected to be affordable for the keen boatie. The motor unit is imported, while the rest will be manufactured locally.
The prototype is installed on a 5 metre hard top catamaran, holds 65 metres of 12mm rope, 10 metres of 8mm chain and is running a danforth anchor. The winch handles the job with ease.
